Overview

The Iowa BioGENEius Challenge is coordinated by the Iowa Biotechnology Association (IowaBio). Iowa students in grades 9 through 12 who participate in the annual State Science and Technology Fair of Iowa will be considered to be the recipient of the Iowa BioGENEius Challenge award!

Challenge Application Open Date:         12/16/2020

Challenge Application Close Date:          2/22/2021

 

Eligibility

To be in consideration for the Iowa BioGENEius Challenge award, you must:

1) Be performing biotechnology research, which is defined as "the use of the knowledge of biological systems to produce goods and services”

2) Be conducting an individual project – team projects not accepted

3) Be an Iowa student in grades 9 through 12

4) Participate in State Science and Technology Fair of Iowa

5) Follow the Rules & Guidelines and meet the International competition criteria

Prize

The winner of the Iowa BioGENEius Challenge will compete against other regional winners at the International BioGENEius Challenge to be held during the 2021 Digital BIO International Conference, June 10-11 & 14-18, 2021. They will also receive an IowaBio SSTFI College Scholarship in the amount of $2,000 if the student attends college in the state of Iowa and $1,000 if they attend college out of state. Four runner-ups will also be awarded with an IowaBio SSTFI College Scholarship in the amounts and criteria listed above.
