Overview

The Virginia BioGENEius Challenge co-sponsored by the Virginia Biotechnology Association and the Virginia Bioscience Foundation is a competition for high school students doing research in biotechnology, agriculture and/or industrial and environment science.

Participation Criteria

It is highly recommended that students applying to the BioGENEius Challenge have participated and placed highly in the Virginia State Science and Engineering Fair held on April 10, 2021. Details can be found here.

Requirements for eligibility:

Applicant must be a student enrolled (Grade 9 to 12) in any public or private school within the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Individual students may submit only ONE project for this competition. Research presented in 2020 must be NEW research. Projects may be continued research from previous years.   Click here for detailed Participation Criteria and Project Guidelines.

You must also apply on-line and complete an online application to the Virginia BioGENEius Challenge. Applications must be completed by: 5/5/2021. The winner announcement will be May 18th to go on to the International BioGENEius Challenge at BIO 2021.

If you are selected as a Virginia winner, you must commit to participate in the 2021 Digital BIO International Conference, June 10-11 & 14-18, 2021 in conjunction with the Biotechnology Industry Organization’s (BIO) Annual International Convention.
