Fellows Attend BioNOW Leadership Training Program for Women in Biotech

The Biotechnology Institute recently partnered with Nektar Therapeutics, the biopharmaceutical company based in San Carlos, CA, to deliver a leadership training program for women biotechnology professionals.The program was held November 29-30, at Nektar's San Carlos, CA, headquarters.

“BioNOW” (Biotechnology Network of Women) allowed approximately 40 participants to develop skills that can lead to executive level industry positions as research scientists, business managers, HR officials, and other types of senior management roles. The program was available to any woman currently employed in a biotechnology or biopharmaceutical company (or graduate student/postdoctoral Fellow) who is interested in professional development training for career pathways to biotech executive management.

The eight Fellows who participated in BioNOW were Kamilah Ali, Postdoctoral Fellow at U-Penn; Muneera Beach, PhD student at UC-San Diego; Elizabeth McCullum, PhD student at Arizona State University; Kimberly Jones, PhD student at Howard University; Antoinette Gaston, PhD student at Tennessee State University; Tuwanda Simmons, PhD student at the University of Mississippi; Valencia Williams, PhD, Strategene; and (8) Marcienne Wright, PhD student at the University of Alabama, Birmingham.
