The 2008 class of Fellows

The yearlong Minority Fellows Program pairs graduate students, post-doctoral researchers and faculty from underserved populations at colleges and universities with industry Mentors. All applicants must be graduate students through early career scientist status.

Fellows are introduced to the biotechnology industry during the Biotechnology Institute's Conference on Biotechnology Education, where Mentors and Fellows attend sessions on new and emerging technologies, mentoring, scientific content updates, and field visits to local industry and research facilities. All Fellows attend the subsequent BIO International Convention. The program continues with a year of mentoring.

Benefits of the Minority Fellows Program:

  • Learn about the dynamic and multi-faceted biotechnology industry
  • Build a lasting relationship with an industry mentor
  • Discover new areas in which to apply an advanced science degree
  • Network and make valuable business connections and develop relationships with other Fellows and Mentors
  • Narrow down career foci and establish goals
  • Develop job search skills such as how to enhance a vita, refine interpersonal skills and conduct informational and job interviews.

Recipients of these fellowships receive:
